Workshop on How to Apply for the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund

The Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) is hosting an informational workshop on how to apply for the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund. The workshop will take you through the application process step-by-step. RSVP by emailing SWAMP or call 713-522-8592 xt. 2

The workshop will be held at Auroroa Picture Show (located at 1524 Sul Ross, Houston, TX) on April 26, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Deadline for the 2009 cycle is June 1st and if you are a filmmaker who has resided in Texas for at least one year, you are eligible to apply for up to fifteen thousand dollars in funding for your project.

Since 1996, the Austin Film Societys TFPF has supported Texas filmmakers by giving out nine hundred thirty thousand dollars in cash, goods and services to 265 film and video projects.

Call-Public Art for Kissimmee

The City of Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) seeks to hire an artist/artist team to design and create an entrance / water feature for Ruby Plaza in Lakefront Park, a twenty-five acre park on Lake Tohopekaliga in the City of Kissimmee. Ruby Plaza will be the focal point of a proposed $25 million park renovation project. The public art should create a compelling entrance to the park that “connects” the City’s historic waterfront to its downtown. There is opportunity within this site to weave together Kissimmee’s past, present and future. The total art budget for this public art project is $750,000. Crew Needed at Mildred’s Umbrella

“Mildred’s Umbrella is looking for 2 people to work on 2 different projects. There will be a small stipend paid at the end of the run, and opportunities for more work with MU in the future.

1) We need a Stage Manager for a short play that will be performed at the houston Fringe Festival. Light rehearsal schedule will start immediately, and the performances are May 15-17, 2009.

2)We need a tech operator (we will train you) for our mainstage show, “The Third Side” at Diverse Works, May 15-30, 2009. Tech Week is May 9-14, and there are 9 performances.
